The Granatkin Memorial is one of the most distinguished international youth
football tournaments in the world.
Initiated by João Havelange, the FIFA President, first time it was held in Moscow
in 1981 to commemorate Valentin Granatkin, the first FIFA Vice President.
The tournament attracted attention of football experts and fans, and now it has
been almost forty years that Granatkin Memorial is red marked in the football
calendar.
The tournament has seen early appearances of the future world football stars:
Andreas Möller and Oliver Bierhoff, Carsten Jancker and Marcel Desailly, Igor
Kolyvanov and Alexander Mostovoi and many more.
